It’s been said that it takes a village to raise a child. The extended family with whom we share our entire lives are experts, have all the wisdom of many generations back, and the many hands are always available when a baby needs extra love and attention.

What happens, when for the sake of “progress,” we leave our village, and our extended family, and go off to live among strangers?  Even if those strangers become our family, they don’t really become our village. 

Where do we go for that expert wisdom, those extra pairs of hands? Our medical care is always growing and expanding, and yet there is much room for growth and improvement — especially where new families are concerned.

The most important thing a new family needs is someone who has been there.  Someone who has the wisdom of generations.

Someone with A Mother’s Touch.   

  We aren’t born knowing how to take care of these new creatures, and they don’t come with manuals or apps, much as we’d love that!

As instinctual as it is to love these small human beings we have created and welcomed into our lives, there is a lot to know. Not everyone has a big problem to solve.  Sometimes all we need a little reassurance.  However, when there is a problem, the most reassuring thing to know is that there is a solution.
